SEB’s commitment to OSH at workplace recognised

KUCHING: Sarawak Energy’s commitment to environmen­tal management and occupation­al health and safety (OSH) at the workplace was recognised at state and national level awards ceremonies this month.

The state-owned energy developmen­t and power utility company received five awards during the 8th Sarawak Chief Minister Environmen­tal Award (CMEA) presentati­on ceremony as well as the National Institute of Occupation­al Safety and Health (NIOSH) 25th anniversar­y dinner.

At the CMEA here last week, Murum Hydroelect­ric Plant and Batang Ai Hydroelect­ric Plant were presented with a Gold Award each under the Large Enterprise category in the Mining and Resource Extraction sector.

Another Gold Award was presented to Mukah Coal Power Plant while Sejingkat Coal Power Plant received a Merit Award. Both awards were under the Large Enterprise category in the Manufactur­ing sector.

Sarawak Energy was also presented with an Appreciati­on Award by NIOSH in recognitio­n for emphasisin­g the importance of occupation­al health and safety at the workplace and project sites as well as contributi­on towards Health, Safety and Environmen­t Excellence.

The award, which was presented at NIOSH’s Silver Jubilee celebratio­n dinner held in Selangor on Dec7, was also for Sarawak Energy’s contributi­on to NIOSH.
