Man jailed for disposing of stolen motorcycle

KOTA KINABALU: A man, who was arrested for disposing of a stolen motorcycle for only RM500, was sentenced to 12 months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday.

Magistrate Mohd Aizat Abdul Rahim meted out the sentence on Dicky Pajon, 35, after the prosecutio­n produced in court the RM500 found on the accused. The unrepresen­ted accused admitted to disposing of the property that was reported lost by its real owner, who had bought the motorcycle for RM9,000 cash just two weeks before it went missing.

The accused was apprehende­d on December 13 at Taman Kuala in Menggatal, based on a tip-off. Also found was the motorcycle which was sold to one Jackson by the accused, and when he was arrested, the RM500 paid by Jackson to the accused was still kept inside the accused’s pants pocket.

Prosecutin­g officer Inspector Suzie@ Stephanie Kupit told the court that the complainan­t came to know that his motorcycle had gone missing at 6am when he noticed that the machine he had parked at his house at 1am after returning from work, was no longer there.

In another Magistrate’s Court here, an unemployed man was jailed for 12 months for possessing two stolen cellphones.

Magistrate Afiq Agoes passed the sentence on Mohd Ikmal Izwan Norisham, 20, after the accused admitted to keeping the gadgets reported stolen from its owner, a woman aged 52 at a hospital here on December 15.
