LDP to hold bowling tournament
KOTA KINABALU: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Datuk Chin Su Phin will be the guest of honour for this upcoming New Gen Bowling Tournament 2018.
Organizing chairman Eric Lau said the New Gen Bowling Tournament 2018, organized by the Liberal Democratic Party Central New Generation Movement (LDP New-Gen), would be held on December 23 at 8.30am at CPS Bowl, Centre Point Sabah.
A total of 17 teams have already signed up with more yet to come.
Besides being an opportunity for party members to strengthen their bond, LDP New-Gen hopes to spark interest in this sport once again through this tourney, pulling in both new and experienced bowling players.
It was not that long ago that bowling was a much beloved sport, or even a favorite pastime for some. Through the years, people started losing interest in the activity slowly.
Some do not even know that there are bowling alleys in Kota Kinabalu.
“We are not just known for our athletes in badminton, squash, and swimming, our nation has nurtured world class bowling athletes as well. Our very own young bowler, Rafiq Ismail has just recently won a gold medal in the world championship single event.
“Through this tournament, we want more people, especially the younger generation to get the chance to try and participate in this sport. Who knows, they might find their passion, and for our country, a proud bowler.”
