Vietnamese woman found dead with slash wound

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A Vietnamese woman was found dead with slash wound on her neck and without any clothes on, believed to have been killed, at her rented house in Taman Duku in Juru, near here yesterday.

Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the body of Thi Thuong Nguyen, 26, was found on the sofa in the living room at 1.35pm after police broke into the house to carry out inspection.

“The police have been alerted by the victim’s friend that she had failed to contact the victim since yesterday and she had also gone over to the woman’s house but it was locked,” said Nik Ros Azhan to reporters.

He said a team deployed to the house found the victim lying on the sofa without any clothes on and there were traces of blood on the wall as well on the floor.

The face of the victim was covered with towels and pillows and an initial examinatio­n by a doctor found there were injuries on her hands apart from slash wound on her neck, he said.

He said the victim, believed to have been killed in the past few two to three days based on the body’s condition, and was sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for post-mortem.

The police, he said, believed that the victim was killed by someone she knew and they would obtain the close circuit television camera in the area to assist in the investigat­ions.

He also called on the public’s cooperatio­n with any informatio­n pertaining to the incident to contact the nearby police station. - Bernama
