Garbage issue at Lido Plaza solved

-

KOTA KINABALU: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Public Complaint Bureau assisted to solve the garbage issue at Lido Plaza.

According to public complaint bureau chief Dexter Lim, they have received several complaints from the neighbourhood of Lido Plaza about the foul smell from the garbage collection station. Sometimes during dinner, strong wind would blow the smell into residences.

After investigations, they found out that the neighbourhood residents, shop tenants and workers not only dumped garbages around the station but also some used tires, electrical appliances, furnitures and construction materials. Some irresponsible parties even dumped their garbages on top of the station’s roof. Such act will attract rats’ habitat.

Dexter and his vice chief Alex Chee paid a courtesy visit to Bainis, chief health officer of the Penampang District Council and sought immediate action to clean the station and temporary solve the issue.

“This problem could never be solved if we solely depend on the Penampang District Council. We need all the neighbourhood residents and tenants to dispose if garbages in a proper manner. On top of that, it is the responsibility of contractors to make sure their workers do not dispose of construction materials at the garbage collection station, ” said Lim.

“I urge all the neighbourhood residents and shop tenants to educate their families and employees on hygience awareness, and co-operate with the District Council to permanently solve this issue,” he added.
