Celebritie­s to take part in beach clean-up programme

SEREMBAN: Local celebritie­s will participat­e in the Port Dickson Coastal Clean-up Day programme, being held for the first time to clean up the five beaches in Port Dickson this Saturday.

The Anwar Ibrahim Club in a statement yesterday said the cleaning programme was held to foster love for the environmen­t and to keep the area clean especially in Port Dickson which is rich in strategic and beautiful beaches.

“The programme will start at 8.00 am and the five beaches selected for this year’s cleaning programme are, Cahaya Negeri Beach where the opening ceremony will be held, Tanjong Gemok Beach, Saujana Beach, Teluk Kemang Beach and the Blue Lagoon Beach.

“The programme will be further enlivened by the presence of Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun, Port Dickson Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and local celebritie­s Awi Rafael, Sharnaaz Ahmad and many others.

“They will also work together in cleaning up all the five selected beaches,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the Port Dickson Coastal Cleanup Day was organised by the Port Dickson MP’s Office in collaborat­ion with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Port Dickson Municipal Council, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar’s Office, Port Dickson District and Land Office, MBI Negeri Sembilan, SWCorp Negeri Sembilan and a combinatio­n of various non-government­al organisati­ons.

In addition, the Anwar Ibrahim Beach Football Cup Tournament and the ‘Himpunan Pencak Pendekar’ will also be held on the same day.

“The public is invited to the Port Dickson Coastal Cleanup Day. Let us work together to clean up our beaches and make Port Dickson a popular tourist destinatio­n favoured by tourists both at home and from abroad,” the statement said. - Bernama
