Azwanddin released, investigation paper submitted to DPP
SHAH ALAM: Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) president Datuk Azwanddin Hamzah, who was remanded for four days since last Thursday, has been released on police bail and the investigation paper (IP) on his case has been submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutors’ (DPP) Office.
Selangor Criminal Investigation Department head SAC Fadzil Ahmat said berkata Azwanddin was released at noon yesterday after police completed investigation on his alleged provocative remark at a gathering last Tuesday.
“The investigation paper is completed and we have submitted it to the DDP’s office for further action,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
The Klang Magistrate issued the remand against Azwanddin, who is also the advisor of Gagasan Tiga Malaysia (G3), last Thursday under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
The Tuesday gathering was organised by Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Geras) at Dataran Seni, Klang, near here to seek justice for the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim during a temple riot, during which Azwanddin allegedly made a provocative remark threatening to storm the Klang Police Station if those responsible for the firefighter’s death were not arrested.
Muhammad Adib, 24, of the Subang Jaya Fire & Rescue Station, was severely injured when he arrived in the vicinity of the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in USJ 25, Subang Jaya, early on Nov 27 to put out a car fire during riots that erupted purportedly over the relocation of the house of worship.
Some people claim that he was injured in a vehicle accident while others allege that he was assaulted by several rioters. - Bernama
