Another transgender from Sabah killed

-

KLANG: Another transgender from Sabah died after she allegedly jumped from the car she was riding with a man, presumed to be her client, in an incident at Jalan Batu Nilam 34, Bukit Tinggi 2, here on Tuesday morning.

The incident echoed a case that happened on Dec 12 last year, where a transgender died after being beaten up in front of a hotel in Bukit Tinggi.

In the latest case, South Klang district police chief ACP Shamsul Amar Ramli said the 39-year-old, who sustained heavy injuries after jumping out of a moving multipurpose vehicle (MPV), died at 3.43am on the day of the incident.

“Initial investigation revealed that the suspect was dissatisfied with the victim who allegedly stole the suspect’s OPPO mobile phone.

“The victim denied stealing the phone, prompting the suspect’s ire. The victim then tried to escape by jumping off the vehicle,” he said in a statement via WhatsApp.

Shamsul Amar said that following a few hours after the occurrence, police detained a 55-year-old man who was believed to be soliciting for the victim’s services and admitted his involvement in the incident.

Post-mortem report revealed that the death of the victim – who had three past records involving drugrelated cases – was caused by heavy head injuries. Meanwhile, Shamsul Amar stressed that the incident is unconnected to the Lesbian, Gay, Biseksual, Transgender (LGBT) hate crimes that is being publicised in social media.
