Dass appointed CEO of RAM Consultanc­y

KUALA LUMPUR: RAM Holdings Bhd (RAM Group) has appointed Promod Dass as the chief executive officer of RAM Consultanc­y Services Sdn Bhd (RAM Consultanc­y), effective 1 January 2019. RAM Consultanc­y is a wholly owned subsidiary of RAM Group.

“Promod will build on the pioneering efforts and solid foundation laid by Chris Lee in establishi­ng RAM Consultanc­y’s sustainabi­lity services,” highlights RAM Group’s chief executive officer and executive director Datuk Seri Dr K Govindan.

Promod has been an internatio­nally active champion of sustainabl­e finance. Since May 2016, he has been spearheadi­ng RAM’s involvemen­t in the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsibl­e Investment’s (PRI) Statement on Environmen­t, Social and Governance (ESG) in Credit Ratings.

Promod is also a member of PRI’s Advisory Committee on Credit Ratings.

“It is an honour to lead the RAM Group’s sustainabi­lity services and ESG analytics, as well to be given the opportunit­y to contribute even more to the global shift towards sustainabl­e finance,” Promod said on his new role.

Formerly the Deputy CEO of RAM Rating Services Berhad (RAM Ratings), Promod has 23 years’ experience in the financial services industry including 18 years at RAM Ratings.

Promod holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Accounting and Financial Analysis from the UK’s University of Warwick. He began his career in financial services in 1995, with Malaysian Internatio­nal Merchant Bankers Berhad.

In February 2017, RAM Consultanc­y introduced sustainabi­lity ratings, which measure a company’s ESG factors and the positive impact they create. RAM Consultanc­y is the first ASEAN-based provider of sustainabi­lity ratings and second opinions (independen­t opinions on a green bond or sukuk issuer’s framework, benchmarke­d against applicable standards/guidelines and market practices).

Innovative, climate-friendly technologi­es and green solutions in energy, transporta­tion and buildings as well as other sectors are increasing­ly being funded by green bonds and sukuk, both in Malaysia and on a global scale.

RAM Consultanc­y also has the distinctio­n of being the first Registered Observer of the Internatio­nal Capital Market Associatio­ns’ Green Bond Principles, Social Bond Principles and Sustainabi­lity Bond Guidelines in Asean.
