KUALA LUMPUR: RAM Holdings Bhd (RAM Group) has appointed Promod Dass as the chief executive officer of RAM Consultancy Services Sdn Bhd (RAM Consultancy), effective 1 January 2019. RAM Consultancy is a wholly owned subsidiary of RAM Group.
“Promod will build on the pioneering efforts and solid foundation laid by Chris Lee in establishing RAM Consultancy’s sustainability services,” highlights RAM Group’s chief executive officer and executive director Datuk Seri Dr K Govindan.
Promod has been an internationally active champion of sustainable finance. Since May 2016, he has been spearheading RAM’s involvement in the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment’s (PRI) Statement on Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) in Credit Ratings.
Promod is also a member of PRI’s Advisory Committee on Credit Ratings.
“It is an honour to lead the RAM Group’s sustainability services and ESG analytics, as well to be given the opportunity to contribute even more to the global shift towards sustainable finance,” Promod said on his new role.
Formerly the Deputy CEO of RAM Rating Services Berhad (RAM Ratings), Promod has 23 years’ experience in the financial services industry including 18 years at RAM Ratings.
Promod holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Accounting and Financial Analysis from the UK’s University of Warwick. He began his career in financial services in 1995, with Malaysian International Merchant Bankers Berhad.
In February 2017, RAM Consultancy introduced sustainability ratings, which measure a company’s ESG factors and the positive impact they create. RAM Consultancy is the first ASEAN-based provider of sustainability ratings and second opinions (independent opinions on a green bond or sukuk issuer’s framework, benchmarked against applicable standards/guidelines and market practices).
Innovative, climate-friendly technologies and green solutions in energy, transportation and buildings as well as other sectors are increasingly being funded by green bonds and sukuk, both in Malaysia and on a global scale.
RAM Consultancy also has the distinction of being the first Registered Observer of the International Capital Market Associations’ Green Bond Principles, Social Bond Principles and Sustainability Bond Guidelines in Asean.
