Ex-servicemen to get RM100,000 for members’ welfare

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Ex-Police Associatio­n will receive an allocation of RM100,000 from the state government to enable the the associatio­n to continue its services in taking care of the welfare of its members.

Malaysia Ex-Police Associatio­n president Hj Hussin b. Awang Ngah said the allocation would be used for the associatio­n’s expenses including aiding its members in particular­ly widowers.

“We like to thank Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal for the early allocation which will be used to assist our members welfare,” he said when met after the courtesy visit to the chief minister officer here yesterday.

Also present was Sabah ExPolice Associatio­n chairman Awang Kassim Haji Awang Gemok.

During the visit, Hussin also explained to the chief minister of the associatio­n’s resolution­s, which include its yearly grant, housing for ex-police personnel and members’ welfare, particular­ly widowers.

Hussin also said the Sabah Ex-Police Associatio­n had about 6,000 members and believed there were still more ex-police officers and personnel who had not registered with the associatio­n.

“The Malaysian Ex-Police Associatio­n has about 140,000 with 240 branches throughout 14 states in the country.

“We therefore urged exservicem­en who have not registered to come forward and register yourself as the main goal of the associatio­n is to take care of our ex-servicemen and women and their family members,” he said.
