Curtin Malaysia works on new courses for Sarawak
MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) is working on introducing new courses for Sarawak.
“We have been asking to have more new courses for the Miri campus (sic). Thus, we are working on the plan to introduce new courses relevant and beneficial to Sarawak.
“At the moment, a few new courses already approved include cyber security and information system, construction management as well as other fields in health science,” said chairman of Curtin Malaysia Management Board Datuk Lee Kim Shin at a lunch for exchange students from Curtin University, Perth in Piasau Boat Club yesterday.
Lee who is also Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture was delighted that Curtin University in Perth has signed another 20 years of joint venture agreement with Curtin Malaysia.
“As a way forward, Curtin Malaysia wants to produce scientists in different fields for Sarawak besides outstanding graduates,” he added.
He added that the study tour allows students on exchange programme to experience the culture and have a better understanding of the environment in Sarawak. The group is visiting Long Pilah in Baram today to live among the indigenous people.
Also present were Curtin University Bentley Campus’s student mobility coordinator Eileen Chan, associate professor Khoa Do of Fellow Curtin Academy for Department of Architecture & Interior Architecture (AIA) School of Built Environment of Faculty Humanities and Dr Emily Jonescu of Disciplines of Construction Management & Architecture of Architect, Australian Institute of Architect (AIA) for School of Design and Built Environment for Faculty Humanities.
