MM2H applica ons’ final decision rests with Home Ministry
Applica ons under the Malaysia My Second Home Programme (MM2H) introduced by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture through its agency, Tourism Malaysia are subject to the approval of Home Affairs Ministry, said Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi.
LAHAD DATU: Applications under the Malaysia My Second Home Programme (MM2H) introduced by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture through its agency, Tourism Malaysia are subject to the approval of Home Affairs Ministry.
Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi said the programme, established in 2015, was still jointly managed with the Home Affairs Ministry, and that the latter had certain processes in place to deal with the applications.
“From the very beginning of the MM2H programme, the final decision and approval is by KDN.
“On our part, we are still receiving the applications, and we submit them to MOHA for approval,” he said after attending the Lahad Datu District Action Committee’s First Meeting for 2019, chaired by Lahad Datu District Officer, Iman Ali.
Mohamaddin was commenting on the issue raised by the MM2H Association that almost 3,000 applications were still pending approval.
He said the process had long been in practice, and hoped that applicants would remain patient.
“In our ministry, there are not many requirements that the applicant has to adhere to as the relevant Act is under the jurisdiction of the KDN,” he said.
Mohamaddin, who is also Silam MP, assured said there was no bureaucracy issue on the MM2H programme and it was not a case of passing on to the KDN, rather, all the applications need to go through process that is subject to the jurisdiction of the KDN.
