Sole Chinese district councillor in Beluran
BELURAN: Beluran Chinese Chamber of Commerce (BCCC) secretary Roland Sze Kui Sin has been appointed as the only Chinese councillor in the Beluran district council for the fiscal year 2018-2020.
The councillors were sworn in at the district community hall last Thursday, witnessed by Sugut assemblyman James Ratib, Local Government and Housing Ministry permanent secretary’s representative, district officer Nordin bin Daling, and local government heads.
BCCC president Tsen Kin Enn expressed his gratitude to the district council and the local government ministry for the appointment, as this is indicative of the government’s determination to work hand-in-hand with the private sector to intensify the district’s economic development.
He is confident that the chamber together with Roland would handle the job efficiently, and could help the business sectors overcome the problems they encounter to ensure smooth business operation in the district.
“BCCC was established in 2014, and much work needs to be done to identify the potential business and industry areas of the district, but we will work closely with the local government to achieve a win-win situation that would benefit the locals,” he added.
Also present at the ceremony were BCCC deputy secretary Mecky Wong, committee members Mike Chia and Lai Yet Min.
