Govt focuses on alleviating Sabahans' burden – Tangau

-

TENOM: The Sabah government will keep focusing on alleviating the people’s burden and ensuring a steady source of income for them.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau said in order to achieve it, the state government has mobilised all available working machinery and cooperated with existing state ministries and agencies.

He added within seven months after the 14th General Election (GE-14), the new state government has taken steps in terms of the necessary planning and has devoted a certain amount of time on this matter.

“This includes strengthening the machinery, which involves the appointment of new teams, including for state ministries and agencies,” he told Bernama after attending the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) Christmas open day here on Sunday. Tangau, who is also the Sabah Trade and Industry minister, said the ministry’s focus would be on domestic and foreign investment planning.

“In order to encourage domestic and overseas investments, there would be challenges associated with workers, either local or foreign, that need to be addressed,” he said.

According to him, industries considered the need of workers, either local or foreign, to be very important, hence the challenge for the government would be to face all sorts of allegations, accusations and misunderstandings from certain quarters.

Therefore, he added his ministry was making a comprehensive effort to gather data including on industries and other workerrelated data. - Bernama
