Public invited to Pesta Angpow in Tamparuli February 16
KOTA KINABALU: Members of the public are invited to attend the 42nd Angpow Festival by the Tuaran district Tionghua nine Associations.
According to the organising chairperson of the event, Alvin chong, the festival is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Feb 16 and expected to be graced by the Deputy Chief Minister cum Sabah Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau.
They are expecting more than 2,000 people to show up.
The festival will be held at the Dewan Tun Hamdan Tamparuli starting at 4pm.
He said that angpows would be distributed during the event and that patrons will be entertained with performances from SJK(C) Kok Wah Telibong, SJK(C) Chen Sin Tuaran, SJK(C) Chung Hua Tenghilan and SJK(C) St Philip Tamparuli.
He said donations would also be given to five Chinese schools from the district.
Additionally, there will also be lucky draws, with prizes ranging from cash to electrical goods.
“The aim of the event is to promote unity and understanding within the community and to celebrate the festivity together,” said Chong who represented the Thain Szu Miao Management Temple.
The other organisations involved in the event are the Tuaran district Hakka Association, Tamparuli Hokkien Association, Tuaran Chinese Welfare Association, Tuaran Chinese Women Association, Tuaran Ling San Management Association, Tamparuli Chung Fook Tong Association, Tuaran Tiong Hua Commerce, Thian Szu Miao Tamparuli temple association and Tao Yu Huang Tuaran Management Association.
