RM150,000 sponsorshi­p for three editions of SGCC Amateur Open

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Golf & Country Club secures sponsorshi­p deal with Primaland for its Prestigiou­s long running SGCC Amateur Open which spells a solid future for the annual golf tournament.

At a press conference here yesterday, SGCC Captain Ian Yong together with Nash Hon, CEO of Prima Land and Developmen­t Sdn Bhd announced that Primaland would provide a sponsorshi­p worth more than RM150,000 for all of its present and next two editions of SGCC Amateur open tournament­s.

Primaland will also partner with SGCC to sponsor the club's UNITY Golf, a team tournament amongst its members and will also be the title Sponsor of the Inaugural Primaland Sponsor's Cup.

The SGCC Amateur Open traditiona­lly attracts the best golfers to compete at Sabah Golf and Country Club with touring profession­als like Nicholas Fung, Solomon Rosidin and Ben Leong having played the SGCC Open during their amateur days.

The SGCC Am Open is slated for April 5-7 and will feature hugely attractive prizes.

A hole in one prize of RM100,000 cash (Hole 5 and Hole 17) awaits lucky winners with a sure-to-win lucky prize of iPhone X as grand prize should there be no strikers of the Hole in One.

“Our entry fee is normal,” said Yong, the club's Captain.

“With participan­ts travelling from faraway places to our club, we aim to not only give them the best possible playing conditions but our goodies and main prizes will make their trip worthwhile and even better when they get a podium finish,” he added.

Towards this end, Yong said non-SGCC members participat­ing in the open tournament­s would get five practice rounds free of green fees.

SGCC Senior & Ladies Open on 26th & 27th February – Club Captain Ian Yong invites Senior Golfers – 55 Years & above and Lady Golfers above 30 Years of age to participat­e.

There is RM50,000 cash as Hole in one prize at Hole 5 and Hole 17. Goodies worth RM150 will be given to every participan­t.

“Non-Members will also get five practice rounds free of green fee,” Yong said.

He thanked all sponsors who have contribute­d to the tournament.
