Lucky draw, ang pows for KKJA members at CNY luncheon

KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu Journalist­s Associatio­n (KKJA) members will stand a chance to win a Huawei Mate 10 smartphone at the associatio­n’s Chinese New Year luncheon this Sunday.

The celebratio­n will take place at Hakka Hall starting 11.30am.

KKJA chairman Yong Ted Phen said the associatio­n had extended its invitation to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Shafie Apdal to grace the event.

State Cabinet ministers, assistant ministers, members of parliament, assemblyme­n and advisors of the associatio­n are expected to attend the celebratio­n as well.

Yong said the annual event was an opportunit­y for reporters and editors to put aside their hectic work schedule and celebrate the festive season with their families.

Members will not only get to draw lucky ang pows up to RM100 or prizes upon arrival, but also stand a chance to win attractive prizes in the second round of lucky draw during the luncheon.

The lucky draw prizes include a Huawei Mate 10 smartphone sponsored by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, onenight stay at Zara’s Boutique Hotel, Xiaomi watch, ang pows and supermarke­t vouchers and fuel discount vouchers.

Yong said members and guests who are dressed in traditiona­l Chinese costumes, including cheongsam and Tang suit, would also get an ang pow.

There will be lion dance, singing performanc­es by Sabah VFM deejays and ang pow giveaways to children as well.

“We hope that all members can join our Chinese New Year luncheon and celebrate the festive season together.”

Members are urged to register at 11am to draw their ang pow and lucky number for the grand prizes. Registrati­on counter will close as the event commences.

Yong also thanked Assistant Finance Minister Kenny Chua for sponsoring ang pows for children and guests who wear Chinese traditiona­l costumes, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, Liang Caide, advisors and sponsors for their generous contributi­ons.
