Former MP denies involvement in syndicate, lodges police report

-

SIBU: Former Julau MP Dato Sng Chee Hua lodged a police report yesterday morning, denying he was involved in a syndicate which sent locals to work in Cambodia that resulted in their arrest.

Sng, who is also former Pelagus assemblyman, lodged the report at the Ulu Lanang Police Station here.

The 71-year-old said he had been told by his son Larry, the current Julau MP, in a Whatsapp message yesterday morning that he was alleged to be involved in the syndicate.

The older Sng denied the allegation, saying it has tarnished his image.

He called on the police to act against those who had spread the lies.

Sibu police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit when contacted, confirmed that Dato Sng lodged a police report yesterday morning.

The police chief said Sng denied the claim which has gone viral in Whatsapp that he had sent the locals to Cambodia to work. Stanley said: ‘’He was merely denying in his report to clear his name.’’

Meanwhile, it was a heartwarming sight at the Kuching International Airport (KIA) yesterday where the 40 Sarawakians, who were previously detained at a provincial prison in Cambodia, finally arrived home.

The VVIP Lounge of the KIA was already packed with family members prior to the 2.30pm touchdown.

As the main door opened, their eyes began to search for their loved ones amongst the incoming crowd.

One by one, everyone was reunited – they hugged, kissed and cried with one another, thanking God for answering their prayers for a safe return.

A Sarawak government delegation, led by Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, accompanied the 40 Sarawakians during the journey home. Santubong MP Dato Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar was also on board.
