SANDAKAN: Sandakan Municipal Council (SMC) president Datuk Peter Hii Chang Lik has dismissed as baseless the recent Sabah Umno Youth leader's allegations, accusing him of wrongdoings and abuse of power.
He said the allegations against him in a police report lodged here on Thursday were slanderous.
“The allegations (in the police report) made by the complainant are politically motivated with the intention of weakening the state government of the day.
“I am ready to be investigated any time because each and every one of the allegations leveled against me is slander, without any basis and as attempt to tarnish my name as the president of the Sandakan Municipal Council,” said Hii in a statement yesterday.
He said the unproven allegations were also intended to smear the good image of the municipal council and the local authorities.
“I have read and scrutinized the allegations contained in the police report that has gone virall on social media
“I have not done anything wrong, neither do I involve in corrupt practice as alleged, as the council president.
“I am leaving the matter to the relevant authority to carry out an investigation and, in fact, before this I had already fully cooperated with the SPRM (Malaysian AntiCorruption Commission) in relation to a similar allegation.
“I will refer this matter to my lawyer first before taking any legal action against the individual who made the allegations,” Hii said.
