Careers in food service management

-

IF you are interested in a career in a restaurant or food service management, a diploma from MSU College can provide the preparation you need to get started quickly.

Restaurant chains and food service companies frequently recruit new management trainees from hospitality management programmes at colleges.

Sometimes, waitresses or chefs, with potential and proper qualifications, are promoted from within into a management trainee position.

Realising the potential, MSU College offers Diploma in Food Service and Restaurant Management through its School of Hospitality, Education and Business Studies (SHB) for those who have a keen interest to study in the area of restaurant or food service management.

Through this course, students are required to deal in food preparation, nutrition and sanitation. The course also offers hands-on experience, with inschool kitchen training supplementing classroom instruction.

For the entry requirement to diploma’s programme, students must obtain a minimum three credits in any subjects in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM/SPMV) or certificate from polytechnic, public or private higher education institution that received accreditation by Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA).

The two and a half year programme gives students sufficient hands on skills for them to excel in the industry.

Those finishing their diplomas can further their studies in the second year bachelor’s degree at the Management & Science University (MSU) through its School of Hospitality and Creative Arts (SHCA).

Career opportunities are aplenty as a restaurant manager, production managers, quality officers in the food supply and factory food outlet, banquet manager, cafeteria manager, catering service manager, dining room manager, food services manager, hotel food and beverage service manager, restaurant manager or restaurateur.
