Delivering academic excellence from the UK

-

WITH a history of over 180 years, Newcastle University expanded its operations to Iskandar Puteri in Johor, Malaysia, in 2009 with an aim to deliver the very best of medical education and research for the benefit of students and society in Malaysia as well as the greater Asean region.

Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed) offers undergraduate degrees in Medicine (MBBS) and Biomedical Sciences (BMS), as well as opportunities for foundation and postgraduate studies.

The degrees conferred at NUMed are identical to those in the UK, which means that students will obtain a prestigious UK degree at a relatively lower cost compared to if they were to study in the UK.

Besides, students with a NUMed degree are entitled for double accreditation from both the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK and Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) with amazing opportunities to study in the UK as well. Medical education at NUMed is built around a modern, case-based approach to medical teaching with extensive practical experience for the students.

As a research-focused institution, NUMed has also been actively carrying out research in a number of areas that may improve the wellbeing of the local and surrounding communities in the future.

NUMed is the first fully owned international branch campus in Malaysia offering a degree in medicine conferred by a UK university. It draws on the legacy of Newcastle University, UK, which, since its inception in 1834 as a medical school, has always been at the forefront of research and teaching, with its reputation having been externally confirmed to be of the highest international quality.
