Sabah muaythai exponents bag 10 golds

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's aspiring exponents bagged 10 gold medals at the National Inter-School Muaythai Junior Championsh­ips held at South City Plaza Mall in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, recently.

Coach Rayner Kinsiong said out of the 10 gold medals, eight were won by members of his club Teamkaraba­w.

The four-day tournament, which started on February 21, gathered hundreds of aspiring young exponents to compete in several age groups.

In addition to the 10 gold medals won, Sabah exponents also bagged Best Boxer Awards in three categories through Amirah Sofea Azlan and Amiera Najihah Rosyidi in the Girls' section and Teamkaraba­w's Shah Aryan Shazam won it in the Boys' 16-17 years category.

The two girls, who are also from Teamkaraba­w, received the awards after winning gold medals in the 8-9 years (Amirah) and 10-11 years (Amiera) categories respective­ly.

The other gold medal winners included Teamkaraba­w members Rodney Einstein, Eva Anastasia, Halary Boy, Mohd Hanif Imran and Phylbert Chin.

Nur Adriana Nazri (Khaimuay Gym) and Mohd rahmad (Unicorn66X­Uppercross) also won gold medals.

Other medallists were Elzie Alfonso Lai, Marshall Jayden Jerry, Faiz Iskandar (silver), while Wyerern chow, Aryan Isaac and Mohd Azwan Peter were bronze medallists.

Rayner said the tournament was a platform to select representa­tives for the World Junior Championsh­ips in Turkey.
