Huge crowds flock to Mydin for anniversar­y deals

KUCHING: Over 1,000 shoppers flocked to Mydin Petra Jaya as early as 7am yesterday for the Mydin Sarawak first anniversar­y sale themed #jualsampey­lengis.

They queued happily for Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd managing director Datuk Wira Ameer Ali Mydin to hand out vouchers to the first 600 shoppers.

At Mydin Samariang, vouchers were given away to the first 300 shoppers in connection with the celebratio­n, which ends on Sunday (March 3).

A total of 2,700 vouchers are expected to be handed out to eligible shoppers throughout the four-day event.

Both Mydin outlets will also run a ‘Happy Hour Sale’ at 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm, and 9pm until Sunday.

Today (March 1), the ‘Happy Hour Sale’ items are IK Yellow A4 papers at RM7 (normal price RM12.15), Merpati cooking set at RM30 (normal price RM74.90), Fortune bag at RM10 (normal price RM29.90), and Twinbirds Tshirt at RM5 (normal price RM12.90).

Tomorrow (March 2), shoppers can purchase a Philux rice cooker at RM30 (normal price RM56.50), two SL water bottles at RM5 (normal price RM4.60 each), Merpati cooking set at RM30 (normal price RM69.90), and Gajah Duduk sarong at RM10 (normal price RM17.90).

On Sunday (March 3), the ‘Happy Hour Sale’ items are Pentec gas stove at RM35 (normal price RM53.70), JH banquet table at RM50 (normal price 82.90), Merpati cooking set at RM30 (normal price RM49.90), and Polo Inter Milan baggage at RM30 (normal price RM59.90).

Mydin outlets are also running a clearance sale with up to 50 per cent off for selected items.

Mydin has also lined up a series of activities with the highlight for today (March 1) being three sessions of the Gardenia Challenge, Maggi Pedas Giler Challenge, and Pran Juice Challenge at 11am to noon, 3pm to 4pm, and 7pm to 8pm.

Maggi will also offer truck sampling at the Mydin Petra Jaya carpark from 11am to 3pm today.

The three challenges continue tomorrow at Mydin Petra Jaya at the same times, while Nescafe will hold truck sampling at the carpark from 10am to 5pm.

There will also be a blood donation drive in collaborat­ion with the Sarawak General Hospital at Concourse 3B from 10am to 3pm.

From 7pm, there will be a mini concert by Ryatt Deedat, Luqman Faiz, Sufian Suhaimi, Melissa Francis, and Sarah Suhairi at the indoor stage.

On Sunday (March 3), the three challenges will continue at Mydin Petra Jaya at the same times, while a Sudoku Challenge will be held at the indoor stage between noon and 1pm.

A colouring contest for children aged five to seven (category A) and aged eight to 12 (category B) will run from 2pm to 4pm, when a mascot will also make an appearance.

At 7.30pm, a lip sync competitio­n will be held at the indoor stage.

At Mydin Samariang, the same three challenges will be held at the outlet’s stage from 10am to 11pm tomorrow (March 2) and from 1pm to 2pm on Sunday (March 3).

There will also be a meet and greet with artistes Ryan Deedat, Luqman Faiz, Sufian Suhaimi, Melissa Francis, and Sarah Suhairi from 11am to noon tomorrow (Saturday).

On Sunday, a darts competitio­n will be held at Mydin Samariang from 10am to 6pm, and a children’s colouring contest will run from 2pm to 4pm.

Mydin is also working with Kraftangan Malaysia for the ‘Malaysian Craft Promotion 2019’ at Mydin Petra Jaya between 10am and 10pm daily until March 7.
