Potential win awaits as full-strength Tambadaus take on Police

- By Arfandi Jaafar

KOTA KINABALU: Another potential victory awaits Sabah Tambadaus when they host Police with a full-strength squad in the Premier League match at the Likas Stadium, tomorrow night.

Luis Carlos Junior returns from injury to make it a maximum foreign-imports squad as the Tambadaus go for a third consecutive win to add to their triumphs over Sarawak (2-1) and Terengganu FC II (3-1) in earlier weeks.

Sabah went into the Borneo Derby in Kuching last week without their Brazilian striker but still managed to come out on top.

With Luis back in the game team manager Henry Saimpon is smiling at the prospect of another three points for the team.

“His return to the squad could not come at a better time. Ricco Nigel Milus, who replaced him during injury, will not be available. He has been suspended for one match after collecting a third yellow card last week.

“It is normal in football to have a few players side-lined by an injury or suspension. We just have to be ready to face any kind of situation and lucky for us, the one now is not so bad because Luis is back,” he said when met here, yesterday.

Henry said all other players would be available for the match and he believes the team under the proper guidance of head coach Jelius Ating is ready to face Police.

He said the air in the camp is good and that Jelius is expected to finalise the line-up after the team’s light training today.

“The mood in the camp is great and the team have shown improvement from one game to the next so I think they should be able to perform well again on Saturday.

“We didn’t have the best start to the season no thanks to a lessthan-ideal pre-season. But after four games the players are now showing better synergy.

“We are determined to continue our winning ways and we will do our best to ensure Sabah Tambadaus remain on the right track as a main contender this season,” Jelius said.

Sabah are currently third in the standings after four matches with a record of two wins, one draw and one defeat.

Meanwhile, Henry hoped there would be more supporters at the game tomorrow to help sing the team to victory.

Tickets for the game will be on sale beginning 10am on match day.
