Eldrick, Charlyne clinch titles at 4th SUT Cup golf tournament

KOTA KINABALU: Eldrick Chong and Charlayne Chong clinched the Boy’s A and Girl’s A titles at the 4th SUT Cup golf tournament at the Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai on Sunday.

Eldrick carded 41 and 40 on the first and second nine to register a nine-over 81 gross score to top the category.

Khairy Syazwan and Smicer Lim finished second and third respective­ly with their scores of 85 and 89 in the one-day competitio­n.

In the Girl’s A category, Charlayne played totalled sevenover 79 (43, 36) to finish seven strokes ahead of second placed Chew I Youn (86 - 42, 44) while third placing Irsalina Akmadin posted 87 (42, 45).

The developmen­t-oriented tournament also featured categories for B, C and D for boys and girls.

The top player for Boy’s B was Lo Tien Ming with 72 (35, 37) followed by Mohd Miqami Azman (77 - 39, 38) and Derrick Kong (77 - 39, 38).

Competitio­ns for Boy’s C and D were played over nine holes with Dylan Zarius winning the former event with 44 followed by Rafiq Anugerah (46) and Liam Powell (49) while the Boy’s D winner was Md Danish Danial (40) with Caleb Wong (42) and Mezlansha Abdulzal (48) in second and third respective­ly.

In the girl’s competitio­n, the B category saw Nabilah Alifuddin playing 71 (38, 33) to edge Nur Ameera Najwa (84 - 40, 44) and Angelina Hutchinson (86 - 44, 42).

The Girl’s C title went to Dynneva Joyce Donnie with 44 followed by Ilhan Shanyka Razali (48) and Puteri Haryaty (49) while the top three in Girl’s D were Aizrah Amirah Ompin (63), Nuraryana Shafiyya Razali (66) and Maryam Hannah (66).

Youth and Sports Ministry permanent secretary (SUT) Datuk Awang Damit Awang Anak was among those present at the prize presentati­on.
