STA to host special reunion for state tennis veterans
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Tennis Association (STA) will be hosting a Special Reunion here on April 20 and April 21.
President of STA Johnson Koh said the special gathering would see former Sabah tennis players, past presidents, secretaries and sports ministers.
“There will also be special invitations for specific special personalities to join the reunion gathering,” he said in a statement to the press yesterday.
The guest-of-honor for the event is being finalised, he added.
According to Koh, a Reunion Dinner on April 20 starting at 7pm at the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex covered basketball court will kick off the much-anticipated event.
“There will be a grand dinner gathering at the covered basketball courts at Likas with live music.
“The next morning (April 21) there will be a series of doubles friendly matches to remember the old times,” he said while adding the event was approved by the STA Exco last week.
Meanwhile, Koh said the list of past players has been sent out to all affiliates and that it will also be posted in STA official Facebook.
“Those who have represented Sabah before are requested to get in touch with STA immediately.
“As for those who have represented Sabah but not in the list, please contact the person in charge to confirm attendance not later than March 30,” he added.
The contact persons are Koh at 012-833 8833, vice president Christopher Lim (019-853 4575), treasurer Tony Wong (013-880 5085) and secretary Tito Latoja (013-886 7170).
Koh went on to say that certificates of appreciation will be presented during the dinner and that a token of subsidy too will be given to past players for their transport and accommodation.
