19 welfare bodies get RM1.77 mln
Nineteen voluntary welfare organisa ons under the Sabah Council of Social Services (MPMS) received a total annual grant of RM1.77 million for 2019.
KOTA KINABALU: Nineteen voluntary welfare organisations under the Sabah Council of Social Services (MPMS) received a total annual grant of RM1.77 million for 2019.
Minister of Health and People’s Wellbeing Datuk Stephen Wong said the grant was a form of aid provided for the targeted welfare groups for them to organise community activities.
“The State government through MPMS allocated the sum so that voluntary organisations could play their role in the community as best as possible.
“These organisations are important strategic partners to MPMS in increasing community involvement in welfare activities.
“Voluntary organisations also play a role in delivering social welfare services to target groups, aside from working on inclusive community building,” he said.
Speaking at the grant presentation ceremony yesterday, Wong said MPMS had planned a five-year strategic plan to strengthen and increase sustainable achievement, in line with the State government’s mission.
“I hope MPMS would develop courses and programmes for training to build voluntary capacity and ability, as well as voluntary welfare organisations. At the same time, the plan would also be able to generate income for Tabung Amanah MPMS,” he said.
