Ninth Sabah Amateur Open postponed

KOTA KINABALU: The 9th Sabah Senior Amateur Open (SSAO) 2019 has been postponed.

The tournament was originally scheduled for March 23-24 at the Borneo Golf Resort in Bongawan but will now have a new date and venue.

“The tournament has to be postponed due to unforseen circumstan­ces. This was stated by the organising chairman and his committee.

“An announceme­nt will be made once the new date and venue are determined,” Sabah Golf Associatio­n (SGA) manager Peter Koh was quoted in a statement to the press yesterday.

“Sabah Golf Associatio­n and the organising committee of the 9th Sabah Senior Amateur Open would like to apologise to all the golf clubs and individual­s for the inconvenie­nce that may have been caused,” Koh added.

The SSAO is open to all senior amateur golfers with current handicap index of 22.1 or below for Men aged 55 years and above while 35.5 or below for ladies of age 45 years and above on the first day of the tournament.

Prizes are to be won for Men and Ladies overall gross open; Men Nett for Category A (55 - 60 years old), Category B (61 - 65 years old) and Category C (66 years old and above); and Ladies Nett Category A (45 - 55 years old) and Category B (56 years old and above).

The defending champions are Peter Tan for Men and Julia Rasudin for Ladies categories.

Meanwhile, the tournament is also a platform to select men golfers to represent Sabah in the Senior SGA Cup that Sabah will play host to in the second half of the year.
