And, for the first time, the best short film will be showcased during the 2nd KKFVA Short Film Award Presentation to be held at the City Cineplex City Mall on March 14 at 7pm.

Nominations for best actor, best actress, best director, best cinematography, best editing and best film were announced earlier this month.

Meanwhile, a short film by Ho Wai Kei entitled My Little Angel won the People’s Choice Award. The eight-minute long film about a dying father’s dilemma on the future of his child with special needs garnered the most votes from netizens.

“We invited five renowned judges to pick the winners. They are the Cineplex City Mall manager Kenny Lim, KK12FM announcer Amy Dangin, singer and songwriter Abu Bakar Ellah, film producer Jo Luping and FINAS advisor Nadira Ilana,” he said.

“KKFVA also thank all filmmakers for their participation in the competition. Without your support, we couldn’t make it this far,” he said.

Loh added that Sabah has many talented filmmakers and related industry players, adding: “Many even have the potential to go further.”

He hoped that the event would encourage more people to be creative and produce more short films to uplift the film industry in Sabah.
