PSB welcomes reps from other political parties — Sec-Gen

-

KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) will hold a series of induction ceremonies soon, where the party will be receiving membership applications throughout Sarawak.

In this regard, PSB secretarygeneral George Lo does not discount the possibility of more parliamentarians and assemblypersons crossing over to PSB.

“Details (about the induction ceremonies) are still being worked out.

“Well, if there is any MP or ADUNs (assemblyperson) who share the same vision that we (PSB) have, we would welcome them,” he told reporters after attending PSB Central Committee’s meeting at the party’s headquarters here yesterday.

It was the committee’s first meeting held after the party’s rebranding from United People’s Party (UPP) to PSB, which was approved by the Registrar of Societies recently.

Minister of International Trade and E-Commerce Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, who is also PSB president, chaired the meeting, which was also attended by the party’s deputy president Assistant Minister of Transportation Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, and vice-presidents – Opar assemblyman Datuk Ranum Mina and Dudong assemblyman Datuk Tiong Thai King.

Still on members from other political parties joining PSB, Lo said even Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing, who is also Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president, acknowledged it as a part of the democratic process, where even elected representatives are entitled to change parties.

“Elected representatives have changed parties not just here, but elsewhere in Malaysia (as well). That is the reality, which I think all political parties must acknowledge nowadays,” he said.
