KOTA KINABALU: Maher Zain's spiritual song concert in Sabah is expected to pull in 6,000 fans from Malaysia and neighboring countries on March 17.

The multi-platinum award winning crooner and officially the most Googled celebrity in Malaysia is expected to belt out 22 to 23 songs during his two-and-half-hour Malaysia Tour 2019 grand finale at University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) here.

“I was 27 when I became close to Islam. Even though I was born Muslim, I was very far away from Islam. When I was 27, I had a change of heart, I changed the type of life that I used to live. I had a lot of feelings, I was inspired and wanted to share that with others and because I had experience with music, I thought I (would) combine these two. I believe in the power of music and, actually, it started the first day when I decided to do this. I wanted to use the talent that Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala (God, May He be glorified and exalted) had given me to give a good impact. Not just for no reason, not just to earn money,” he shared.

Maher also shared that he will be releasing singles and is currently working on a new album.

“We are working on it. We are planning to release a single very soon. InsyaAllah (God Willing), even within a week's time. But this one is very special, I am not going to reveal,” he teased the press.

“At the same time, we are also working on the next album, but I don't know what exactly. Hopefully, end of this year or maybe next year. But in the meantime, we have some singles coming out as well. InsyaAllah, with a very summer feeling,” he elaborated.

Maher added, there are no plans to collaborate thus far but his door is always open to Malaysian artistes.

Past Maher Zain concerts have seen many fans flocking in from neighboring countries like Indonesia, Brunei and Singapore to catch a glimpse of Maher Zain performing. It is expected to be the same this time.

Maher launched his Malaysia Tour 2019 at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil on March 9 with 16,000 fans, singing his 2009's ‘Thank You, Allah', 2012's ‘Forgive Me', and 2016's ‘One', which continue to defy all laws of gravity in terms of sales and internet reach.

The Swedish-Lebanese singer's next venue will be in Johor Bharu on March 15 and Penang on March 16.

The Malaysia Tour 2019 concert is presented by CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad, jointly organized by New Catalyst Resources (NCR) and My Events International in collaboration with Awakening Music. Its official partners are Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK), Sabah Tourism Board, Travel360. com, Tix Malaysia, Gemba Tours and Travel, Sunquick, Sutera Harbour, Habib Jewels, Moma Water, Warisan Ad Outdoor, Grab Media, UMS, TAMMA, Bernama, Malaysia Gazette, Kupi Kupi FM, KK12 FM, Oh Bulan, Says Seismik, Hurr.tv, and Aswaq Magazine.
