Likas Sports Complex hostel in sorry state — parents

-

KOTA KINABALU: Parents of school children participating in the ongoing Sabah School Sports Council tennis tournament were disappointed to find the hostel at Likas Sports Complex in appalling condition.

Their kids had checked into the hostel as their accommodation for the duration of the tournament.

“We are in fact shocked when we saw the condition of the place,” said the parents.

“The walls and ceiling were peeling at several places and looked like parts could fall off at anytime.

The shower rooms seemed to have been vandalized with shower heads and control knobs missing.

The whole place was in a general state of disrepair,” they pointed out.

“As parents we were expecting a decent place for our kids to rest before they head to the tennis courts for the competition but after seeing the dormitory where they were put up, we doubt they could have a good rest,” they added with concern.

They urged the management to look into upgrading the place or at least repairing what urgently needed to be repaired.

“The place is truly in dire need of a facelift and by the looks of it, that won’t come cheap.

Although we do not know why, we can only reasonably surmise that the place has obviously not been properly maintained for some reason,” they complained.

The parents were in one voice in urging the management to deal with the matter quickly as it would certainly reflect badly on Sabah should foreign sportsmen decide to check into the place.
