All promises made will be delivered — Abg Johari

-

SPAOH: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has given the assurance that he would deliver all promises made.

Speaking during a ‘LeadersWith-The People’ gathering at the Spaoh town community hall yesterday, he also said that all promises made by his colleagues would be delivered.

He pointed out as a person who strictly follows his religion, he regards lying as a sin and he does not want to be called a liar.

“I am not a liar as lying is a sin and I do not want to be questioned over unkept promises or lying in the afterlife. Just give us (the state government) time to implement as big development projects will need careful planning before they can be implemented,” he added.

Commenting further, he also said that there is no element of hanky-panky when it comes to implementing projects as the state government has engaged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to work with them.

On his two-day visit to Betong Division, Abang Johari said it was to see problems on the ground as well as to announce a number of projects for Spaoh town.

According to him, the projects include a sports complex costing RM14 million, Sungai Spaoh Waterfront beautification costing RM6.4 million, a RM4.6-million new sub district office, a new steel truss bridge crossing the Paku River costing RM5.7 million and the Surie-Turie Road costing RM35 million.

Abang Johari also informed that the government would develop all necessary infrastructures for Spaoh which include an airport near Spaoh and building 39 telecommunication towers to enhance digital coverage.

“Betong has great potential for modern agriculture which is why we need to build these infrastructures. This is why I visit Spaoh and other parts of Betong Division to see problems on the ground in the effort to serve the people well,” he said.

After the event, Abang Johari visited Luban Ulu near here where he performed the earthbreaking for a communication tower.

Costing about RM1 million, the tower is a project of the Sarawak Multimedia Authority.

“We plan to build 300 such towers across the state this year at a cost of RM1 billion and then build another 300 next year. This is our effort to transform the state towards digital economy,” he said.

Earlier on during the ‘LeadersWith-The People’ gathering, Abang Johari informed that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government was always ready to cooperate with the Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government for the sake of development and progress although the state government would oppose if PH’s policies are bad for the state.

Also present during the event were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Dato Sri Micheal Manyin and Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.
