Yusri leaves Kuala Lumpur

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur football coach, Yusri Che Lah today announced quitting his post as coach effective immediately.

He said the decision was made after reaching a mutual agreement after a discussion with the management of the Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) yesterday.

He said the decision was taken although it was difficult to do so in the interest of the City Boys’ squad to wade through the Super League this season.

“Indeed, it is difficult for a young coach to volunteer to withdraw from the team. What I do is for the good of the team, that is my work ethic.

‘’So, if I fail or am incapable of taking the team to give a better challenge, I am willing to be penalised although I realise the Kuala Lumpur team itself until today have not taken any action against me.

“As someone who has to act honestly, I accept that I have to decide despite being aware that not everybody saw the difficulty of facing five matches against champions such as Pahang, JDT, Terengganu, Melaka and Selangor,” he said at a media conference here.

The Kuala Lumpur squad is now at the bottom after losing in five 2019 Super League matches including the latest against Selangor which saw Kuala Lumpur losing 2-3.

In the meantime, Yusri denied that his withdrawal from the Kuala Lumpur squad was made due to the insistence of the fans due to the poor achievement of the team which he just had taken over 13 weeks ago.

“I do not feel my action is due to the pressure from the spectators because the spectators were not as numerous as when I was with the Kelantan team. But I don’t want to burden the management which had helped me a lot in reviving the team prior to this.

‘’To the players, I hope they will continue to strive because their opponents after this are more somewhat their level and they should use the opportunity not to continue languishing at the bottom of the league,’’ he added.
