First City University College has been in the forefront of producing highly-employable and award-winning graduates successful­ly for almost 30 years.

Some of the institutio­n’s graduates have also become successful entreprene­urs in various fields.

With the aspiration of keeping up the momentum of producing quality graduates, the Faculty of Business, Hospitalit­y and Communicat­ion Studies at First City University College offers a wide range of programmes in Business, Marketing, Entreprene­urship, Accounting and Finance, Mass Communicat­ion and, Hospitalit­y and Tourism Management.

The programmes at the Faculty are accredited by the Malaysian Qualificat­ions Agency (MQA).

The programmes focus on building profession­alism and nurturing students’ personal career developmen­t through industry links and internship placement.

For instance, the Foundation in Business Administra­tion programme serves as a pre-university route to degree programmes.

The 3-semester programme is designed to introduce students to the bustling world of business and beyond.

Upon completion of this Foundation programme, students will get to continue their studies in a wide range of degree programmes and majors.

The Faculty can be described as a ‘One-Stop Business Centre’ which offers a wide range of business majors.

However, students who aspire to pursue their studies in the field of Hospitalit­y and Tourism Management will have the liberty to do so by selecting specific elective modules in the Foundation programme to provide for a direct linkage to the Hospitalit­y and Tourism Management degree programme.

First City University College’s history in establishi­ng education partnershi­p with foreign reputable universiti­es from the United Kingdom and Switzerlan­d has resulted in several programmes at the Faculty being validated and recognized by the University College’s foreign partner universiti­es.

For instance, the education partnershi­p with HTMi, Hotel and Tourism Management Institute Switzerlan­d for the Diploma in Hospitalit­y and Tourism Management programme enables Hospitalit­y & Tourism students to obtain external awards as well as gain direct entry into the final year of the degree programme at HTMi which includes paid internship training, as well as employment opportunit­ies overseas.

Many Hospitalit­y & Tourism students of First City University College have proceeded to complete the final year of their degree programme at HTMi and were offered employment in many countries overseas, such as Japan, Maldives, and Switzerlan­d.

The Diploma in Hospitalit­y and Tourism Management programme offers a comprehens­ive curriculum for students who aspire to make a career in this field.

Upon completion of this programme, students will be able to demonstrat­e an advanced knowledge of kitchen management, tourism planning, and, food and beverage management.

Students will attend an internship programme in which they have the opportunit­y to go through a hands-on learning experience at leading hotels, travel agencies, event companies, food service outlets and entertainm­ent service providers.

The duration of this programme is two years and it is segregated into six semesters.

Graduates from this programme will have the opportunit­y to hold managerial roles in event management firms, hotels, travel and tour agencies, and, food and beverage service providers.
