Turner, Douglas reunite in ‘The Kominsky Method’

-

ONE OF the 1980s’ hottest onscreen couples — Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner — will reunite in the award-winning series, “The Kominsky Method.” Season two of the show is due out on Netflix later this year.

In the end, it is Turner rather than Jacqueline Bisset who will appear in the hit Netflix show. According to US entertainment media, the American actress will reunite with her “Romancing the Stone” co-star some 35 years after the movie opened in theatres in 1984.

The actress is lined up to play Ruth Bederman, the ex-wife of Douglas’ Sandy Kominsky character, and mother of their daughter, Mindy, played by Sarah Baker. Turner is currently only scheduled to appear in one episode of the show, in which she is described as “Sandy’s second wife, who delights in still being able to push the buttons of her ex-husband.”

Season two is currently filming and is slated to land on Netflix later this year.

The pair met on the set of the 1984 adventure movie, “Romancing the Stone,” directed by Robert Zemeckis, in which they played two characters hunting for treasure in Colombia. The movie earned Turner her first Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy or musical movie and won its director the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) in 1985.

On the back of its success, the film was followed by a sequel, “The Jewel of the Nile,” released in 1985, this time with Lewis Teague directing. The story was set six months after the events in the first movie, and brought Douglas, Turner and Danny DeVito back together on the big screen.

The third actor in this onscreen trio, DeVito, has also appeared in “The Kominsky Method” as Dr. Wexler. The actor previously reunited Douglas and Turner in his 1989 movie, “The War of the Roses,” in which they played a couple in the midst of a divorce.
