Education and Innovation Program for students
PENAMPANG: Students attended the Education and Innovation Program held in Kampung Hungab Penampang, on March 16.
This Innovation Optimizes Ways of Learning (i-OWL) programme was carried out by 10 teacher trainees of Institute Pendidikan Guru Kampus Gaya for 50 primary students from in Penampang.
This inaugural community outreach programme was developed and introduced by Carlmila Freddie Simol from the Education and Innovation of Village Community Management Council (MPKK) who is also the head programme of i-OWL.
In addition, this programme marked the first community engagement between teacher trainees and primary school students living in Kampung Hungab Penampang.
This event was attended by Cyril Gerald Liew (the representative of Jannie Lasimbang, Sabah Assistant Minister for Law and Native Affairs), Jerry Philip a representative from Penampang Education Office, Sofian Bin Hj Seesaw, branch, manager of Bank Rakyat Penampang Branch, village head Robert Mojolou.
Sabah State Library participated by organizing attractive activities such as free members registration, coloring, decoupage, basket making and many more.
A counter was set up by the Bank Rakyat Penampang Branch to encourage primary school students to open up saving account.
Students participated in a number of activities that included SenamSihat, English language games, a speaker series focused on the innovation presented by Dr Ruayah@Doren Herman from IPG Gaya Campus, workshops and interactive team activities. Participants learned about innovation process and entrepreneurship.
“All students have the right to be given the opportunity to personally succeed, therefore academic education is a strength and self-confidence. I would like to emphasize that our government is on the right track in changing the pattern of administration and is committed to bringing education development in the state to a higher level to ensure our students can enhance their innovation and creativity,” said Cyril.
The highlights of the event were using recycled things to create new innovations and soapmaking using organic materials which were participated by 50 primary students.
