I will accept PM’s decision — Kiandee

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee is leaving the fate of his parliamentary position to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He said he would also accept it if his post was replaced by another individual.

“I have said many times that I will accept the decision made by the Prime Minister on his position. The Prime Minister said I would be replaced once a new chairman has been identified and, I will abide by the decision,” he told reporters after chairing a PAC meeting at Parliament Building here yesterday.

Kiandee also said the issue that he would relinquish the post did not arise as Dr Mahathir had assured he would remain as chairman until a suitable candidate is found.

In fact, he did not feel pressured with criticisms as well as the move by four PAC members to quit their posts.

“It is not an issue of insufficiency PAC members as four resigned from their posts. The basic meeting only requires a chairman and three committee members, today we have the chairman and six committee members,’ he said.

The MP for Permatang Pauh, Nurul Izzah Anwar and three opposition PAC members namely Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad (BN-Parit Sulong), Datuk Seri Ahmad Hamzah (BN-Jasin) and Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan (PAS-Kota Bharu) had resigned following the PAC leadership issue. - Bernama
