KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians can show their commitment to the planet and stand united with millions of others during this year's Earth Hour campaign by using special customised stickers #myearthhour2019 on the world's leading short video platform, Tik Tok.

TikTok in a statement yesterday said it launched the #myearthhour2019 challenge in collaboration with Earth Hour Malaysia, with the aim of raising awareness of the important role of nature in everyday life.

“As a global partner of Earth Hour, TikTok aims to use the power of technology to further the NGO's cause for earth conservation and has introduced special customised stickers.

“Local influencers and celebrities including Nabilah Ali Dally (Bella Dally), Intan Najuwa, Amar Baharin and Thomas have used these stickers to promote the #myearthhour2019 campaign,” the statement said.

The Earth Hour campaign has also caught the attention of Malaysian badminton legend Datuk Lee Chong Wei, who is a keen conservationist himself.

“Earth conservation plays a very important role, especially for the benefit of the younger generation. Earth Hour is a great opportunity for me to be part of a strong movement that aims to raise awareness of the importance of protecting our environment,” he said.

This year, Earth Hour invites everyone across the world to show their solidarity towards planet Earth by turning off their lights for an hour on March 30 at 8.30 pm (local time).
