Keningau Vocational College wins best award at international conference
KOTA KINABALU: The Keningau Vocational College (KVK) was awarded the Best Paper Award when it represented the country at the Eurasia Research International Conference held in Singapore on March 14 and 15.
The conference on business, economics, law, language and psychology was also attended by delegates from United Kingdom, Australia, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, Namibia, India, Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore.
The KVK team presented three academic papers, with one titled "Developing Soft Skills Through Gamified English Language Activities (Zombie Challenge Series),” by English Language teachers Sirhajwan Idek and Nurazilah Othman, and two papers presented by students Dydinelynn Dydimus and Steffany Cleryica Harry on their final-year projects.
Dydinelynn, from the business management programme, presented a paper titled “School Enterprise: Nurturing Students’ Entrepreneurial Skills Through Sales Booth”, while Steffany Cleryica, an early childhood education student, presented her paper on “The Use of Adventure Books in Fostering Children’s Language Skills”.
Sirhajwan told Bernama that the main mission of the team was to prove that vocational college students were capable of producing work of international standard and could present them at the international level.
He added that it also intended to show that teachers in this country were capable of producing academic works on the development of education.
