Three Super League players get two-match bans each

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) have suspended three players for two matches each for violent behaviour during Super League matches.

The three are Kedah’s Renan Da Silva Alves (for headbutting) and PKNS FC’s Kpah Sean Sherman (elbowing) as well as PKNP FC player Ahmad Sukri Ab Hamid (pushing).

FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Baljit Singh Sidhu said in a statement that the suspension, in accordance with Article 50.1(d) and read together with Article 18.4 of the FAM Disciplinary Code, was decided at a meeting yesterday.

He said the players were also given a stern warning that a heavier punishment would be meted out if they repeated their offences.

Renan was said to have headbutted PKNS FC’s Muhamad Faizat Mohamad Ghazali during the teams’ Super League match at the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Setar on March 2.

Sherman was found guilty of elbowing the chest of PKNP FC’s Amani Manual Aguinaldo during the teams’ Super League clash at the Shah Alam Stadium on Feb 23.

Ahmad Sukri was penalised after he was reported to have pushed Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) player Nazmi Faiz Mansor to the ground during the teams’ Super League game at the Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium in Larkin on March 9.

Meanwhile, Baljit also announced that Kuala Lumpur President’s Cup player Royizzat Daud was banned six matches after being found guilty of contravening Article 50.1(e), read together with Article 18.4 of the FAM Disciplinary Code, for being sent off in the President’s Cup match against PKNP FC at the Manjung City Council Stadium in Perak on Feb 25.

Baljit said Royizzat would sit out the next three matches, with the remaining three being suspended sentence. This means the remaining three-match suspension will only be invoked if there is a further breach by the player in the next six months.

Baljit also announced that the Sarawak Football Association (SAFA) were fined RM2,500 after being found guilty of contravening Article 70.1 of the FAM Disciplinary Code for two offences committed by their supporters.

Their fans were found guilty of lighting up six flares during the Premier League clash against Penang at the Petra Jaya State Stadium in Kuching on Feb 9 as well as for lighting flares at the end of the Premier League match against Sabah at Zone B of the same stadium on Feb 23.

Baljit said Sarawak were also given a stern warning that a harsher penalty would be imposed if their fans repeated the offence. - Bernama
