KUALA LUMPUR: Pahang regained top spot in the Super League from Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) after defeating Felda United 3-1 at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka Saturday.

The Elephants went ahead when Norshahrul Idlan Talaha’s powerful shot beat Felda goalkeeper Norazlan Razali in the 44th minute, but The Fighters equalised four minutes later when Brazilian Thiago Junio de Aquino was quickest to react when Pahang goalkeeper Mohd Helmi Eliza Elias spilled his catch.

Pahang, coached by Dollah Salleh, however, went on to scoop all three points with goals from Brazilian Jose Eduardo Bischofe de Almeida (63rd, pen) and Mohd Faisal Abdul Halim (90th).

Pahang and JDT are levels on 17 points in the 12-team standings after the Southern Tigers drew 1-1 with Kedah yesterday. The Elephants top the standings with a onegoal difference over JDT.

At the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium (MBPJ) Stadium, PJ City FC stunned neighbours PKNS FC 1-0, courtesy of an Aizulridzwan Razali’s 59th-minute strike.

Meanwhile, PKNP FC notched their first win of the season by thrashing basement side Kuala Lumpur 4-0 at the Manjung Municipal Council Stadium.

PKNP FC got their goals through Palestinian striker Yashir Pinto (sixth minute), G. Mugenthiran (32nd) and Giancarlo Rodrigues (63rd and injury time).

KL had two players sent off by referee Wan Mohamad Tarmizi Wan Ibrahim. First to go was defender Mohd Firdaus Mohd Faudzi for a foul on Muhamad Farid Nezal in the 35th minute.

In the 71st minute, a second KL defender, Zaiful Abdul Hakim was red-carded for a rough tackle on Mohd Hafiz Ramdan.

Meanwhile, another Brazilian, Luiz Junior emerged as the hero when he scored a brace to help Sabah to a 2-0 win over Penang at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu and regain top spot from JDT II in the Premier League.

Luiz put Sabah ahead in the third minute off a corner by Sabri Sahar before doubling their lead in the 52nd minute.

JDT II failed to capitalise on home ground advantage when they were held 1-1 by Sarawak at the Tan Sri Dato Hassan Yunus Stadium in Larkin.

The hosts took a 32ndminute lead through Argentinian Lucas Elias Ontivero but Sarawak were awarded a penalty when goalkeeper Muhammad Haziq Nadzil fouled Bobby Gonzales in the box in the 72nd minute. Hudson Dias De Jesus stepped up to drill the penalty home for the equaliser.

Earlier, goals from Zarko Korac (32nd) and Ahmad Azriddin Rosli (45th) gave UiTM FC a slim 2-1 over newcomers Selangor United at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium. Yahya Abdul Hadi reduced the deficit for Selangor United from the penalty spot.

Sabah top the 12-team Premier League standings with 14 points from seven matches while JDT II also have 14 points but with a game in hand. UiTM FC are third with 13 points. - Bernama
