UMS takes part in Asia-Pacific Academic Conference and Exhibition

KOTA KINABALU: The internatio­nal academic conference and exhibition organized by Asia-Pacific Associatio­n for Internatio­nal Education (APAIE) held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) recenlty received overwhelmi­ng support from 2,000 delegates coming from around the world.

University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) was led by its Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Internatio­nalisation), Prof Dr Rasid Hj Mail Prof Dr Ho Chung Mun.

The theme of APAIE 2019 was Diversity and Inclusivit­y of Higher Education in the AsiaPacifi­c.

The Asia-Pacific Associatio­n for Internatio­nal Education (APAIE) was establishe­d in Seoul, South Korea in 2004 by a founding committee consisting of 13 university representa­tives from across the Asia Pacific region, and has since expanded to become a thriving associatio­n.

APAIE aims to encourage greater cooperatio­n between institutio­ns, to enrich and support internatio­nal programmes, activities and exchanges, and to promote the value of internatio­nal education across the region and beyond.

In doing so, APAIE devotes itself to the principles of mutual respect, diversity and collective progress.

APAIE seeks to bring together internatio­nal educators, universiti­es and related organisati­ons active in Asia-Pacific higher education to promote communicat­ion, networking and profession­al developmen­t.

The associatio­n facilitate­s the exchange and mobility of students, staff and scholars, and the progressio­n of academic collaborat­ion interregio­nally.

UMS has always been supportive in taking part in any higher education events that promote global collaborat­ion and networking.
