Meanwhile, Azis who is Sepanggar Member of Parliament was pleased with the response received for the month-long tournament that concluded on Sunday.

“There were 1,050 bowlers who registered for the tournament and this shows that we have many enthusiasts for the sport.

“The tournament was organised with the objectives of unearthing new talents. I believe we have many of them in Sabah and with the right guidance, they would be able to compete at national or international level.

“Hopefully we will be able to identify these talents and one way to do that is to organise more of such tournaments.

“I’ve had talks with the organisers to make the (DAJ Cup) tournament an annual affair... hopefully we will return for a bigger and better tournament next year,” he told reporters.

Azis, who is also the Deputy Home Minister, went on to say that they would also be organising other sports including the DAJ Cup futsal tournament.
