KOTA KINABALU: The 18th edition of Le French Festival (LFF) comes back for the third year and it set to hit the big screens of Kota Kinabalu with its stellar line-up of award-winning French films that are not to be missed.

Together with longstanding partner, Golden Screen Cinemas, the French Film Festival is a crucial component to Le French Festival 2019 as it proudly reigns as the largest French Film Festival in the nation.

It is also the only French film festival in Malaysia, which aims to develop a strong bridge of cultural exchange between both France and Malaysia through the art of cinema.

Kicking off on May 9, LFF has exclusively selected seven highly raved French films by renowned directors to be showcased in Kota Kinabalu, to bring to Sabah the latest, award-winning French films. Movie fanatics can look forward to Memoir of War, Custody, The Red Collar, Bloody Milk, Just a Breath Away, The Night Eats the World and Becassine!.

Le French Festival 2019 aims to live up to its promise of being the bridge that connects both Malaysian and French culture.

Jacques Bounin, Director of Alliance Française Kuala Lumpur underlines the importance of cultural exchange for a country’s growth, especially that of a highly multi-cultural country. Hence, what better way to do that than through the universal language of cinema?

“A platform of exchange is inevitably in need for everyone to be able to express and interact with – without the existence of cultural boundaries. With LFF’s perennial history, we’re encouraged and satisfied to see the sturdy efforts between Malaysia and France to forge a rich cultural exchange through many forms, including films,” said Jacques Bounin.

Movie enthusiasts can look forward to Le French Festival 2019 films at GSC Suria Kota Kinabalu from May 9–12.

Le French Festival 2019 will also grant Malaysians an immersive French experience like no other across three other major cities (Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru), showcasing French films, visually stunning and entertaining theatre shows, tasteful gastronomical experiences, attractive art exhibitions and many more.
