Golding teases 'Crazy Rich Asians' trilogy
They’re writing it now. They’re working on part two and three now, so we will see.
LAS VEGAS: English-Malaysian actor Henry Golding has been busy teasing the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy at the CinemaCon film festival here.
According to Erik Davis of the movie review website Fandango, Golding commented that work is happening right now on the script for a sequel to the groundbreaking Crazy Rich Asians.
And apparently, they’re not stopping with number two.
“They’re writing it now. They’re working on part two and three now, so we will see,” Golding told Davis.
This quote does go in line with what fellow Crazy Rich Asians star Gemma Chan had to say to the Radio Times.
“As far as I know they’re starting to write scripts for the second film and the third film. Obviously there are three books in the trilogy.”
During the film festival, Golding, Charlie Hunnam, and Chadwick Boseman were promoting Guy Ritchie‘s The Gentleman, which was previously called Bush. The film will be released in 2020.
Chadwick was also promoting his upcoming movie 21 Bridges, which is set to hit cinemas on July 12.
On the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy, cast member Gemma Chan had previously said that the producers were planning to film the sequels back-to-back in 2020.
Gemma, who took the role of Astrid in the smash romantic comedy, is currently busy promoting Captain Marvel where she plays Minn-Erva - a member
Henry Golding, actor
of Kree’s elite squad, Starforce alongside Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers.
Based on Kevin Kwan’s hit novel, Crazy Rich Asians introduced audiences to a couple - Chinese-American Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) and Nick Young (Golding) as they travelled to Singapore to meet the latter’s family.
Little did Rachel know that her boyfriend’s family is among the richest in the world.
And while most of them have been either hostile or indifferent to her, she develops as genuine friendship with Nick’s cousin, Astrid who’s burdened by her own problems with a cheating husband.
Officially, Warner Bros has green-lit its sequel, China Rich Girlfriend.
While there’s no official word for the adaptation of the third novel, Rich People Problems, it’s not surprising that it’s moving forward as well with both followup films shooting consecutively next year.
