Rovio spin-off brings 5G gaming to Samsung devices in South Korea

HELSINKI: Hatch Entertainm­ent, a spin-off from Angry Birds game maker Rovio, has struck a deal to offer 5G gaming on Samsung devices in South Korea, Rovio said.

Hatch is a 5G gaming platform that allows users to stream KUALA PILAH: The Malaysian Digital Economic Corporatio­n (MDEC) has allocated RM100,000 for the developmen­t of the Digital Maker Hub in all schools nationwide, said Deputy Communicat­ionsandMul­timedia Minister Eddin Syazlee Shith. He said 24 schools were currently involved in the programme, including Sekolah Menengah Sains Tunku Jaafar (SMSTJ).

“The Digital Hub is managed by MDEC and enables collaborat­ive networking in the field of Digital Maker between SMSTJ and other schools around Kuala Pilah. “These schools will be involved in the programmes to be implemente­d at SMSTJ, especially those involving robotic innovation and various other programmes,” he told reporters after officiatin­g the Champion School Digital Maker Hub Room and the Digital Maker Collaborat­ion Network as well as Google Classroom Hub eRPH (Daily Teaching Record via online) Appointmen­t here during the weekend.

Eddin Syazlee said this could be a new leap in the country’s education system, where it would give students a chance to be directly involved in digitalrel­ated matters.

“We are now in a new digital era, involving the education and economic system in digital form.

“This is the first stage. We will see what is the result from the digital learning we introduced as we are confident it will be expanded,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said that SMSTJ was also chosen to be the nationwide Google Classroom eRPH Hub in Malaysia for 2019.

“Some 60 schools under the guidance of SMSTJ throughout Malaysia have used the Google Classroom applicatio­n. — Bernama games on their mobile phones in the way Netflix does for movies or Spotify for music.

Operators around the world are beginning to convert older 3G and 4G networks to faster 5G technology and games are likely to be among the first ways for consumers to experience the new faster connection­s.

Hatch’s cloud gaming service will be included in Samsung’s new 5G capable Galaxy S10 devices, with a three-month trial subscripti­on to stream games at 5G speeds, Rovio said.

“It’s the world’s leading smart phone manufactur­er and it’s their flagship product so obviously this is important for us,” Hatch spokesman Joseph Knowles told Reuters. — Reuters
