TAWAU: Applications for proposed improvements of infrastructures at several district police headquarters (IPDs) and housing for police personnel in Sabah have been submitted to the government.

The proposal that took into account the comfort of its personnel, is still being processed, said Sabah Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Datuk Zaini Jass after he was asked about Kalabakan member of parliament Ma’mun Sulaiman’s comment in parliament that the building blocks at the Tawau police headquarters were not comfortable for police personnel and their families.

Ma’mun said in the recent parliament sitting that there were 80 two-bedroom units built in 1992 that had not been upgraded and were unsafe for occupancy.

Meanwhile, Zaini, who was on a working visit, also witnessed the handing over of Tawau district police chief’s duty from ACP Fadil Marsus to his deputy Superintendent Nor Azizulkifli Mansor who will be the acting Tawau district police chief with effect from yesterday.

Fadil has been appointed as Chief Assistant Director (D7C) Anti-Human Trafficking and Anti-Migrant Smuggling (ATIPSOM) at the Bukit Aman Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Department with the rank of SAC on April 11.

Zaini said Fadil’s achievements as the Tawau police chief was an advantage for him in carrying out his duty and addressing the issues in Sabah.

Fadil thanked the media throughout the last three years that he had served in Tawau for playing an important role in raising the police image and for reporting effective and accurate information to the community.
