SCCC’s inception timely to enhance cooperation with China — Consul General
KOTA KINABALU: Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, Liang Caide, has vowed to support Sabah China Chamber of Commerce’s (SCCC) effort in promoting bilateral investment and trade between Sabah and China.
He said a growing number of China companies were keen to invest in Sabah.
“These companies’ interests in Sabah have expanded from infrastructure, residential and hotel developments to other industries such as manufacturing, glass production, furniture making, timber downstream activities, food processing and agriculture.
“I believe there are huge opportunities for cooperation between China and Sabah in the future,” he said during a courtesy call by a SCCC delegation led by its president, Datuk Frankie Liew, here yesterday.
Liang said the new government was also taking the relationship and cooperation with China seriously.
As such, he said the inception of SCCC was timely to enhance cooperation with China.
Liang was invited as a special guest for the inaugural installation ceremony of the chamber on July 23.
Meanwhile, Liew said there was great development potential in Sabah, especially in the agriculture sector, which was one of the main focuses of SCCC.
“There are a lot of land available for development in Sabah.
“I believe we can establish win-win partnerships by bringing in Chinese investors and their technology to Sabah, as well as gaining access to the vast China market.”
Also present was SCCC deputy president Datuk Soh Poh Soon.
