Peninsular Malaysia to have eight Ashley furniture stores by 2022

KUALA LUMPUR: Hauslife Furniture Sdn Bhd plans to have a total of eight Ashley Furniture HomeStore outlets by 2022, driven by the growing demand for quality furnitures in the retail and property projects segment.

Founded in 2014, Hauslife is the sole licensee and operator of Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Peninsular Malaysia.

US-based Ashley Furniture is one of the world’s biggest home furniture manufacturers.

Hauslife currently has four outlets – three in the Klang Valley and one in Penang – and is now in the midst of discussion to open one more in Johor Bahru, “hopefully by end of this year”, its chief executive officer Yu Kong Cing told reporters after the grand opening of the country’s largest flagship store of Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Quill City Mall yesterday.

“Even though market sentiment is said to be soft, we took this challenge and see it in a different perspective by leveraging on Ashley, which is an established brand and has presence in most countries,” he said.

Yu said Hauslife’s integration of the retail and projects, including residential, commercial, office hotel and resort spaces, is working very well as it supports the various needs for customers.

“Besides offering the Ashley brand, we can also tailor-made designs and materials that customers are looking for their respective projects,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ashley Furniture Industries Inc vice president of international sales (Asia) Robin Lim said the opening of the flagship store is a testament that the company is confident of the Malaysian economy, especially retail furniture market.

“With over 900 HomeStores across 155 countries, we believe there is still a lot of room to expand our footprint, mainly in the high-growth Asia Pacific region,” he said.

The flagship store measures 1,300 sq metres, includes Ashley’s lifestyle collections which comprise American and European contemporary, vintage and urban living design furnitures.

Product categories include upholstery set, bedroom set, dining room, home office, recliners, mattresses and accessories.
